Last week I attended the Makers UK event in London. If you know me you’ll know I’m not one to usually do this kind of thing so wasn’t sure what to expect. I have to say, it was great. I met some really inspiring folks, had the chance to chat to other designers from all over the UK and had some fun in London for the day to. I brought home some bits and pieces from other Makers at the event, time for a “go follow” post from me
Some business cards and info packs I picked up from people. Don’t mind the underground map, I’ve had a bit of an obsession with the design for a while
You need to check these folks out, the first card (on the left) is Chris Wharton love his style and crazy nice fella. Second (top right) is Naomi Atkinson who I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to meet but being a northern lass myself I already knew about Naomi and her work, she’s awesome. Definitley check her out. Last but not least Cre8tive Brainz awesome guys, Erlen and Vinh, had a blast chatting to them and was inspired to see a similar illustrator to myself designing websites.
This guy is amazing, have a real soft spot for his work. Ed Brown is his name and hand drawn illustration is his game. Go follow him, love his work and hire him! He’s a lovely guy and incredibly talented
Pinched some ace stickers from the event.
I had this printed up to take with me. I wanted to give something a little more than just a normal business card. It would fold where the vertical dotted lines are to form it’s own envelope.
There are a couple of other guys I met that I didn’t get a chance to get business cards from. Mark Wilkie, great illustrator. Simon McInerney, Programmer and probably the coolest guy I’ve ever met. Ben Aldis amazing designer for print. And of course, the wonderful and charming Ross Chapman follow him, he’s a great designer and a total superman, seriously cool guy.
Had fun, will likely head back next year if they have another. Huge thanks to Tal Oron for asking me to come along and for putting on the event.
Have a good one guys

Blushing right now Vic! Thanks for the lovely comments! Yes… it was awesome to meet so many talented people (like yourself) and will definitely head down for another one – hopefully they will!
Yay! Was cool to see you too. Thinking of going to any events next year?

That just made my eyes well up
Thank you Vic — I’m sorry we didn’t get to catch up too. Love your work, and really enjoyed the event. Let me know if you’re around Newcastle at any point, as I see we have a shared love for tea.
