Bear

OVERVIEW

Bear is a focused, flexible notes app which has quick organisation, editing tools, and export options to help you write quickly and share anywhere and preserve your privacy with encryption.

ORIGINAL SET 

Back in 2015, the guys from Shiny Frog approached me about creating some super simple, stylised and useful illustrations for their writing app named Bear. This is the original set of illustrations I created back in 2015.

REDESIGN

In 2019 I made the decision to spend some more time on the now popular Bear character that lived within the app. The team wanted to redesign Bear, give him some more personality and explore the world he lives in. I spent some time working on a bunch of new directions for them.

THE NEW BEAR

After some revisions and iterations, myself and the Bear team agreed on the new Bear, he is now a lot more detailed and versatile, lots more space to play with emotion and positions.

GUIDELINES

Although the guidelines are pretty open and free flowing, I do have some guides that I stick to. The fun thing about Bear is that the team are happy for me to go a little crazy whenever I feel the occasion calls for it, still, it’s nice to have some kind fo guides in place to keep consistency.

 BUILD

I have built out the new Bear character and his world across the app and a bunch of marketing images. Myself and the team are looking to bring bear out into the real world with swag and marketing.
